Likes: laughing with family, reading good books, eating cheesecake, talking all things childbirth & motherhood Dislikes: spicy food, kids growing up way too fast, doing the dishes I grew up in Topeka, Kansas, with my parents and two younger brothers. Family and faith were of utmost importance in my upbringing, both of which shaped me into the person that I am today. My husband Jared and I got married in 2013 and a year and a half later we welcomed our first son. I knew I wanted to leave my job as a yearbook artist in order to stay home with him, and I have never looked back. We have since had a daughter and another son. As a family of five there is a lot of laughter and a lot of mess around here! I spend my days homeschooling and juggling all the things that the mom-life entails, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything! A few things we enjoy as a family are playing at the park, visiting the zoo, listening to audio books, and eating lots of ice cream. Because family has always been central to my life, I have long felt a call on my heart to support the foster and adoption community. After moving to the KC area for my husband’s job back in 2017, I knew we needed to find a way to be a support to the community here. In 2022 I stumbled upon the KC Kansas Angels and I knew I had finally found what we were looking for. This is an organization truly focused on changing lives. Having the opportunity to step in as a sister and supporter to a foster mama, or to show up as a cheerleader and faithful friend to a foster kiddo is a privilege. That’s a place I want to be. My position on the board as Director of Faith Relations is something that melds two areas of my life that are deeply important to me. Family and faith. I am so excited to see what God does through the faith communities in the area, and my role of connecting them to the KC Kansas Angels is an opportunity I count as a true blessing. |
