Dislikes: Being cold, housecleaning, bad attitudes, spiders, selfish behavior, coffee, dirty clothes on the floor, scary movies, snakes, conflict. Born and raised in a small East Texas town, I grew up in a protective family who encouraged me to work hard and do my very best. The middle daughter in a family of five, I was the peacemaker of the bunch, always going out of my way to try to resolve hurt feelings while keeping the peace. I was blessed to be raised around extended family so large family gatherings with big meals were a huge part of my childhood experience. After college, I moved to Dallas where I met the love of my life and best friend, Shad, on a blind date. After being together a little over a year, we moved to the Kansas City area and haven’t looked back. We’ve been married for close to 18 years and have three great kids. We have had our fair share of challenges. Our family has children with exceptionalities. Every day is different and needs change from season to season. Our lives are amazing and hard at the same time. Our marriage and family aren’t perfect, but we are committed to doing whatever it takes to love one another, keep short accounts, grow, listen, learn, and show an abundance of grace in the process. My background is in organizational management, recruiting and leadership. I have worked in several industries including hospitality, recruiting, sales, education, and ministry. I’ve also been a stay-at-home mom working part-time jobs to help provide for our family. If I had to pinpoint the common thread, it all comes back to people. I care about people and believe everyone has a story and something to share. Throughout my life I have discovered that my heart beats for families, mamas, and kiddos. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as a KC Kansas Angel Case Manager. My hope is that everyone touched by this program will feel seen, valued, known, and cared for. I want to make a positive impact on our local foster care community. I am excited to connect with foster families and volunteers to hear their stories. Together we can come alongside those caring for kids to offer support and resources so that every kid can achieve their dreams! |
